Clyde’s

3236 M St. NW, Washington, DC | 202-333-9180 | American Cuisine

Clyde’s of Georgetown is the original. Opened in 1963 in Washington’s most fashionable neighborhood, Clyde’s was an immediate sensation.

The concept was simple and sound, and new for the historic neighborhood: an updated American saloon where good food and good drink, at good value, with good company, was a good bet. Clyde’s drew a crowd from all walks of life and quickly became a local legend. The late-afternoon appetizer menu inspired the 1976 hit, Afternoon Delight, and the gold record hangs at Clyde’s today.

The long oak bar, plank flooring, original oil paintings, and the popular Back Bar with its vintage railroad posters evoke “the good life” of a bygone era and established the patina and style that has become Clyde’s distinctive signature.
